Customize Outlook to your needs
I created Much2Do to manage my tasks, since the task list of Microsoft Outlook is too limited in my opinion. However, Outlook is well suited for managing contacts, for sending and receiving and managing email, and for planning time specific appointments.
But being a demanding user and programmer, I had some additional desires. In the past year I have customized Microsoft Outlook so it works more efficiently, using VBA (Visual basic for Applications). Some of the things I have customized are the following:
- Automatic distribution of incoming and outgoing email,
on basis of the subject, other properties of combinations of properties of the email
- Automatic distribution of incoming and outgoing email,
on basis of the internal contacts data (divided into categories)
- Automatic saving of attachments of incoming email into specific folders,
on basis of the subject, other properties of combinations of properties of the email
- Automatic saving of attachments of incoming email into specific folders,
on basis of the internal contacts data (divided into categories)
- Prohibit sending email containing info on attachments,
while forgetting to attach the file
- Prohibit sending email using an account that does not match the contact data
(using matching categories and accounts)
Not everybody is able to write VBA code themselves, but custimizing Outlook with code written by a programmer is not too difficult. Want to know more about my code? Send an email!
